Heavy rain in QLD ------ uni cancelled!!!

So I was waiting for an email or any announcements on UQ website today and FINALLY GOT THE URGENT NOTICE THAT ALL CLASSES ARE CANCELLED!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This morning Facebook had all sorts of memes and news updates about the scary weather. Almost everyone were wondering whether classes are cancelled. Slowly, news crept in about QUT and TAFE and all schools in south east QLD being cancelled today. BUT NO UQ. yet.

I myself have an afternoon practical today that has a quiz worth 3%... 3% doesn't seem much, but for uni, IT MATTERS A LOT! It can get you from a grade 5 to a grade 4, or 6. I was actually planning to go if they do not cancel... cuz apparently my grades will be more important than my safety. But anyways, later on, an urgent notice came to my email and it became the happiest day!!! Mother nature.

Stay safe to those in the wild weather area who are outside for whatever reason, and hope you get home safely!

Finding things in my room that I had forgotten about

Hello again! It's already third week of uni and I haven't even caught up with any of my classes yet and have no idea of what is going on, BUT I will do it soon, as I always convince myself anyway...

I had a lecture at 12pm today and the lecture room was so cold. Did they even know how low the temperature they set on the aircon was?! Outside wasn't even as hot and humid as other days, when the aircons weren't that cold...

Also, not to brag, but the seats in some lecture rooms are usually quite uncomfortable. People who wear long pants may not notice, but people who wear shorts/skirts will most likely notice how spiky the material is. When you stand up after a lecture, especially long 2-3 hour ones, you will notice that the back of your thighs will be red, or at least, feeling weird and numb. When sitting down at first, the spiky material should definitely be noticeable and will hurt a bit until your thighs get used to it... Am I the only one who wants them to change he materials of the seats in those lecture theaters? I mean, shouldn't students get comfort in uni since they are paying a huge amount of money?

I need to confess that my room is a mess. You'd probably think that some kind of war happened and something blew up in the middle of this tiny space that I nest in. But then again, whose room doesn't get messy? It's interesting and quite fun though, to find things that I don't even know that I had, and sometimes I would find money at the bottom of a pen holder or something. That's like a gift to myself, from me :) The other day I found a nice wooden comb that I didn't know I had bought, and just today I found a pack of chocolate chips I got last week that I thought I had finished already. It's surprises to me from me, and that's pretty much all the surprises I get in my lonely life...

Ok, check back soon! bye

Nutrition, Coeliac Disease, and life at the moment

Hello again my precious readers! Ever since second year of uni started, I've been telling myself to study more and study hard. Haven't quite convinced myself about that yet so I am hopelessly behind with my classes, as always. During the lectures, practicals or workshops that I have, there is always someone asking questions that I would never be able to ask since I don't even have any idea of what is happening. There's those people who are so on top of things, and then there's me.

I am majoring in Nutrition, and my classes are all based on biochem, biomed, nutrition values in foods, anatomy, diseases, public health and health in general. It's not difficult, but the content is endless, so a good memory is needed to remember everything, but then there's me.

For one of my courses, as assignment, we have to do either an individual written piece or a group video/animation on a selected health condition/disease. Of course, a video would typically be chosen. Even though it is much more work, I think people can learn more from videos than writing a boring page of words, and reading it over and over again for double-triple-poly-checking.

In a group of three, we have chosen Coeliac, or celiac (see-li-ack) disease as our topic for our animation-video. The reason we chose this topic was because two of us learnt a little bit about it in a nutrition course that we do, and it sounded like a good topic to learn more about.

To briefly describe this disease- and make myself sound smart- it is basically the body's immune system reacting abnormally to gluten (typically found in wheat), causing damage to the villi (small finger-like projections) in the lining of the small intestine. These, if healthy and normal, expand in surface area to assist the small intestine in absorption of nutrients in foods. It is important for the small intestine to absorb as much nutrients as possible for the body's general health, therefore, these villi are much needed. For coeliac disease, the villi (small finger-like projections in the lining of the small intestine) are inflamed and flattened, which reduces the surface area for maximum absorption of nutrients.

So overall, I am now having to do a huge load of research on this disease, including how it affects the body's homeostasis. Sounds fun! >>

Other than that, uni life is pretty straightforward. Like, there's nothing new really. Haven't really had any chances to make new friends, however I have noticed many familiar faces around campus.

New Short Story (maybe, lol)

Hello again! Finally completed all my sign on's for my classes for this semester! Before yesterday I had thought that there were no more sign on's BUT they just had to email us like "Hey, just for fun and numbers, we will make you get up before 7am on a Saturday to choose between two practical times that we said didn't require signing on!" Cool.

At least I got all the times that best suited my timetable, which is awesome. And it's so good to know my class times now, and plan the days that I can go work to get some money ;,) Also already planning to skip the 8am lecture LOL.

Talking about working and saving up, I went online to check the prices of flight tickets recently. Would cost me at least 2000, added up, with the cheapest tickets, for a Japan + Korea trip. So adding the accommodation, transport and spending, it would cost at least 5000!!!

Thinking of making the trip to only one country now LOL...

So I've stopped my "Let Me Walk in Your Shoes" story/novel since I feel like the ending I have thought of isn't as interesting as I want it to be. Now I am starting to work on a short story. Still trying to come up with the plot and stuff though.

AND I tried those Korean instant noodles even though someone online said not to do so. BUT I TRIED IT AND IT'S PRETTY GOOD

Happy Valentine's Day to all singles and couples

Whether you are single or have someone to celebrate today with, Happy Valentine's! Those of you who are single, that's ok, at least your wallet won't be quite empty :D maybe you can even save some money and get yourself some discounted chocolates tomorrow.

If you don't want to waste your time reading my short love tale below, feel free to close this page now. If you want to know me just a bit more, read on :) >>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I'm not going to write my entire love story here of course, but to those who are interested or have been asking me online, here's a brief tale.

I am not in a relationship at the moment. I have been in three official relationships up until now. None of them exceeded one year I think. Other than that, there were two people whom I had been close with, but whatever the relationships were, they lasted for no more than a week or a date. One that's recent was someone who took me to the movies, he/she didn't even bother watching the movie and kept on distracting me. That night, he/she asked to make the relationship official, I said no. Not that he/she isn't a nice person, he/she's very sweet actually, just that it didn't feel right.

A few of my close friends are with someone now, and I really cannot wait for announcements of marriage or whatever :D Really keen, but still can't quite come to the idea that those children will soon become a mother or a father :,)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So today after I dropped my brother off to school, I went to the bank but it wasn't open yet. While I waited for them to open, I went into a Korean stall where I suddenly had the urge to try the quite famous spicy Korean instant noodles.

Haven't tried it yet, but will probably do so soon, but if there's any of yous who don't recommend it, please tell me now.

I AM BACK!

Hi readers who actually keep up with my blog entries and new readers who followed my links, a big thank you to you all for taking some time out of your lives to come here!

Here's a small introduction and what I have been up to lately:

I am 19 years of age now, turning 20 this year in October. Currently, I am starting my second year of uni, studying health courses that are like they all say, tough. A "pass" at the moment for me is a huge relief.

OMG season 7 of the Walking Dead is so intense!!! Especially the wait for season 7 after I finished watching season 6. Like, who dies? Well for freaks hole, one of my favourite characters is bashed in the head, and the other taken to a sht place being fed sht food that's not even edible. AND the main guy is now with the sword girl? wtf...

Other than keeping up with the new episodes of that, I have also been watching Taiwanese entertainment shows these days. Personally, I am very interested Taiwan, the little island beneath Japan. What I am most interested in is the place itself, the night markets, and of course the entertainment shows that are produced there. I can name more Taiwanese entertainers than any other places'.

I think it was the middle of last year, 2016, that I suddenly wanted to go to Taiwan. It was a fast decision with some process discussing with family, and then there I was, booking my tickets in September. My grandparents helped me with my return ticket from China to Taiwan and my parents helped with half of my payments  from Aus to China plus the whole visa business. I had to pay for my hotel stay and everything in Taiwan, which brought my bank statement from four digits to three >>. I think since I have saved up from working, my parents were totally fine with me spending as much as I wanted to. LOL of course, since it's not their money :,D

After our exams finished for the year, me, my friend, and her sister planned the trip together. They are Taiwanese who went back to Taiwan for the long summer holiday. We had planned Taipei for ~3 days then Taichung for ~4 days. It was a very exciting process. I would definitely recommend yous to plan trips by yourselves instead of just going along with a tour group as you would have more opportunity to experience and learn about the culture and understand more about the local transport and hotels whatsoever.

The top reason I wanted to go to Taiwan was because of it's night markets and cheap road-side shops. Also, there were many places I wanted to visit, such as Show Lo's shop xD (the clothing and accessories were expensive, and he wasn't there around the time I went, but it felt nice to be in the area, where many of my favourite Taiwanese entertainers had been to).

Around the end of 2016, after my first year of uni ended, I went on my personally-planned trip to China and Taiwan. It was quite surprising that my parents were ok with me traveling to Taiwan by myself, but I did have to convince them that I would mostly be with friends while I am there so I wouldn't be alone and lost and kidnapped etc etc. I went to my hometown China first to visit my relatives, and a week later, I flew to Taiwan, Taoyuan International Airport. It was a 2-3 hour flight. As I was by myself, going to a place that I have never been to, it was scary, yet very exciting. Of course, I had done a lot of research beforehand so I knew how to get to Taipei, where I planned to go first, from the airport. It's not that confusing, if I recommend. From the airport, there are tour buses that go directly to many of Taiwan's most visited places. Conveniently, there are short-term use 4G sim cards that can be purchased at the airport, so there is no worry in terms of internet access and Google maps access. Best thing is that they are at an understandable price, around 20-30 AUD dollars for 10 days use at most, and they are unlimited 4G, plus some text+call credit which is not much use, to me anyways as I needed access to internet the most. I think I got the 10 day access one, can't quite remember.

On the bus from the airport, I contacted my friend, who was already at the hotel where we were staying at for the first 3 days. I was quite confused as to how to get to the metro station from the bus stop (bus stop was directly opposite from the metro station, as I noticed when I got there) so I was freaking out a bit. Of course, I would've used Google maps but like, it's sometimes not that trustworthy and doesn't show all the details. Thankfully, my friend told me all the details of how to get from bus stop to metro station and which line to take and which stop to get off at. It was not easy walking around with a huge suitcase, but I was glad the weather was not as cold as China's so I didn't have to carry or wear heavy clothing. It was like Australia's winter, just the right temperature to get around comfortably. Our first night at Taipei ended past midnight. It was real scary walking the quiet streets back to our hotel. If I remember correctly, we arrived back at the hotel around 1am or 2. The latest I stayed out without family.

Taipei is definitely a great place to visit, with many foods available everywhere and anytime and many beautiful places to visit. The people are also very friendly and transport is very convenient, as there is the metro and buses that can basically take you anywhere without having to walk much.

After the 3 days in Taipei, we went to Taichung, where my friend's family lived. I stayed with them for 2 or 3 nights (can't remember). They were lovely people, who took me to many places such as old streets of Taichung and the famous FengJia night market, where we spent most of our money on game machines lol...

The last few days in Taiwan, I stayed at a hotel by myself. It was quite freaky, with all the scary hotel tales I heard about, and my first night was with a lamp on. I was so glad that there was a TV that could distract me, and it was nice to be able to watch Taiwanese shows right when they were being played on TV rather than having to wait a few days for them to go online with the gossip on social media changing to the next episode. Those days were spent with another friend, who also went to Taiwan for a trip. So basically, I didn't spend a day in Taiwan alone :)

Leaving Taiwan was a little emotional for me as I had enjoyed my stay so much. I would absolutely go back again in the future and have a longer stay.

I was back in China for another week before I came back to Australia. My trip back was one less stop than my trip from Aus to China. Going to China, I started at Brisbane, stopped at Melbourne, got on another plane to Shanghai, then from Shanghai to Qingdao. The waiting times at the airport were not that long, however, trip back to Aus took me a whole day... I didn't make a stop at Melbourne on my way back (shout out to China Eastern airlines that started their first flight service from Shanghai direct to Brisbane on that day, I was able to take that first service). However, the wait at Shanghai airport was like 9 hours I think, and I almost was about to take a tour on the train to a nearby place till I realized that it was very risky and that I did not know where I would end up at.

Being back in Australia, I immediately started working to earn back what I had spent, in hopes of going on more trips in the future. I am in the early stages of planning an Australia tour for the end of this year, which I still need friends to join ;) And as for end of next year or after I graduate, I am planning a Japan-Korea trip :D

Ok that's all for now, please follow or keep an eye on this blog page as I will be posting more these days xD

Random talk cuz idk what to write

Yo! So to begin this "random talk", PIERCINGS HURT!!! Last Wednesday afternoon when we had half day off, I went to get my ears pierced. A friend insisted to go with me so I allowed her to go and watch my pain >< so embarrassing :C (Yes, I had no piercings before) Anyways, first I thought of getting two on each side so I used stickers to mark the places the night before. (I wanted something unique so didn't go for just the normal earlobe piercings one on each side.) I somehow convinced my mum, who then looked at the stickers and said that it looked like something is missing so she suggested three. DAMN. The top two on each side then had to be cartilage which I now don't recommend... cuz they damn hurt - and still hurting/stinging even after a few days :,( And of course, they costed more LOL $$

Now I have three studs on each side and yes, rebel much :L can't wait to take out these beginner studs though >< Also, because of my craziness of getting so many piercings at once, I've been having restless nights, having turned on to my sides by accident... oh the paiiiinnnnn D,:

Other than the rebellious side which I now show, the school's yearly Multicultural performances is coming up xDxDxD I got myself involved in both Chinese and Japanese dances and we have been practising hard for the last few weeks, passing the auditions (good job guys!) Funny thing is that both of the dances are using fans which made me confused of the moves and which fan to bring for the practices :L Just hope I don't mess up during the actual thing which is held on Friday, 13th of March (haha... more reasons to stuff up)

Now lets talk about getting fat. I swear I'm gaining so much weight these days with all the junk food I've been stuffing in :3 Just yesterday I had KFC and the other day was full of instant noodles while today is ice cream, like, what is dieting? x,D

Last night my old neighbours came to my house to visit and they had dinner here. The kids made a mess with paper planes everywhere while us two teenagers hid ourselves behind our phones and talked about games. The adults talked about random stuff and mum cooked. It was my dad's birthday and funny enough, dad had work so we ate the cake without him x,D

Finally, to end this "random talk", I've been so stupid (yes I always was stupid -.-)... so stupid having feelings for someone it hurts :,( and it hurts to hurt others... so much hurt these days I'm surprised I didn't go into depression LOL. These days have been full of sad moments where love is broken and people are hurt... Why can't love be simple and not so painful... (omg that rhymes!)

Anyways, have a good day/night/whatever everyone and thankyou for taking time out of your precious lives (pfft) to read my "random talk" xD
